Meztli Treasures, more than a brand

Meztli Treasures, more than a brand

Hi there!

My brand name, Meztli Treasures, carries the heart of everything I create.

The name Meztli is inspired by the Aztec moon deity, whose name literally means “moon” in Nahuatl. As a woman, I have always felt deeply drawn to the moon. To me, it represents the most feminine force of all—mysterious, powerful, intuitive, and endlessly beautiful.

I want my brand to reflect the strength, beauty, and sacred femininity of womanhood.

Every piece I create is designed with the intention of helping women feel strong, radiant, and beautiful when they wear it. My jewelry is meant to be more than an accessory—it is a small personal treasure that reminds the wearer of her own power and uniqueness.

The word Treasures speaks to the objects in our lives that bring us joy, meaning, and emotional connection. These are the pieces we cherish, return to again and again, and keep close because they make us feel something special.

That is exactly what I hope my jewelry becomes for every woman who wears it: a cherished treasure infused with beauty, history, femininity, and strength.

Jewelry has always been more than adornment to me—it is a way to tell stories, preserve history, and stay connected to the cultures that continue to inspire me.

As the creator behind my handmade jewelry brand, I design pieces that blend polymer clay, natural gemstones, and tribal-inspired aesthetics, all deeply rooted in my admiration for Pre-Columbian cultures of Central and South America.

My connection to this style goes far beyond design trends. As a former Spanish teacher, I spent years immersed in the language, history, and cultural richness of Latin America. That fascination naturally evolved into my creative work. The symbolism, artistry, and spiritual connection found in Pre-Columbian jewelry traditions continue to influence the shapes, textures, and earthy elegance of my pieces. Ancient cultures across Mesoamerica and the Andes often used jade, turquoise, gold, shell, and zoomorphic motifs to express identity and spirituality, which remains a strong visual influence in my modern interpretations.

Why I Love Creating Handmade Jewelry with Polymer Clay

One of my favorite materials to work with is polymer clay jewelry.

I love polymer clay because of its incredible versatility. It allows me to sculpt bold organic forms, create textured surfaces reminiscent of ancient artifacts, and experiment with shapes inspired by tribal and Pre-Columbian motifs.

Another reason I keep returning to polymer clay is comfort. My customers love lightweight handmade earrings, and polymer clay makes that possible. Even larger statement designs remain easy and comfortable to wear all day long.

This balance between artistic freedom and wearability is essential to my brand.

The Beauty of Gemstones in Tribal-Inspired Jewelry

While polymer clay gives me freedom of form, gemstones add soul and richness.

I am constantly drawn to the organic beauty of stones. Their natural textures, earthy colors, and subtle imperfections pair beautifully with the tribal style I aim to create.

Gemstones also echo the materials treasured in ancient Pre-Columbian adornment, where jade, turquoise, quartz, and shell held symbolic and ceremonial value.

In my designs, gemstones bring depth, elegance, and a grounding natural presence that perfectly complements the handmade feel of the clay.

Handmade Jewelry for Sensitive Ears: My Personal Testing Process

Because I personally have sensitive ears and develop allergies easily, quality is never something I compromise on.

Every earring finding I use is personally tested by me before it becomes part of a finished collection.

I wear each prototype myself throughout the day to mimic the real-life experience of a customer. This helps me carefully evaluate:

  • comfort
  • weight
  • skin sensitivity
  • durability
  • long-term wearability

I often wear my prototype earrings all day long to make sure the findings feel comfortable and the overall weight remains easy on the ears.

This hands-on testing process allows me to confidently offer handmade earrings for sensitive ears that are both beautiful and comfortable.

Jewelry Inspired by History, Crafted for Modern Wear

What makes my work special is the meeting point between ancient inspiration and modern materials.

My jewelry is not a direct reproduction of historical artifacts. Instead, it is a contemporary interpretation of the symbolism, textures, and earthy luxury that define Pre-Columbian inspired jewelry.

Each handmade piece reflects:

  • my love of Latin American history
  • my artistic respect for tribal aesthetics
  • my passion for lightweight wearable art
  • my commitment to quality materials
  • my obsession with comfort and sensitive-ear testing

For me, jewelry is where history, artistry, and personal expression meet.

And every piece I create carries a little of that story.
